Colour profiles in Photoshop for web images

I´ve been getting a lot of questions from colleagues about how the color profiles in Photoshop works. So here we go!

Use sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for web images

Working Space Color Profiles

As this standard is used widely on PC monitors, this is probably the best way to go. Hit ⇧⌘K or Edit -> Color Settings. Choose to set RGB to sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

Now you may notice some differences in the appearance of colors in your picture when saved as jpg for example. To see the “real” colors, we need to use color proofing. This is done by going View -> Proof setup -> Monitor RGB. Voila! Now you get the right results and colors!
